Flea Infestation 101

Fleas are common external parasites that may infect your pet and cause itching and discomfort. Fleas take a blood meal from dogs and cats and they sometimes will bite humans. To effectively eliminate fleas on your pets you must also treat the household and the environment. The most effective solutions kill adult fleas and contain an IGR, insect growth regulator, to break the flea life cycle.

A single flea can bite your pet 400 times in one day! That’s a lot of bites and a lot of blood. The best way to prevent that is to apply a topical formula to the back of your dog or cat monthly!

Break the Flea Life Cycle!

Sadly fleas are resilient little buggers! Their eggs, larvae, and pupae can stick around in an environment even if the adult fleas are killed! Since those eggs, larvae, and pupae can reinfest your pet it’s important to kill them at all stages of their life!

Adult Fleas

Adult fleas are the most visible and irritating of the life stages. A single female flea can lay 2,000 eggs in her lifetime. Adult Fleas bite your pet immediately after landing on it and begin their mating cycle! Luckily adult fleas die very quickly after a topical is applied to your pet!

Flea Eggs and Larvae

Eggs and Larvae are harder to see and are less annoying but if left alone can lead to a huge infestation!

Don’t Just Treat your pet!

Your home and yard are both vulnerable to flea infestation! Flea eggs can remain dormant in your carpet for up to 6 months before hatching and infesting your pet! After an infestation, it’s a good idea to treat your home with a home flea and tick spray. You should do the same to your yard as well!
